Composition :
BITUMAC
PU 606
(PU Bitumen Modified) is a superior quality, liquid, cold
applied modified bitumen solution specially formulated to
provide special additives for better adhesive.
Basis Uses :
BITUMAC PU
606
coating is ideal for roofing work where there may be thermal and
structural expansion and contraction of the roof membrane,
waterproofing two-course concrete slab construction in plaza
decks, pedestrian concourses or podiums, parking garages,
foundation shifting, deck deflection, foundation walls, planters
and etc.
Recommended for
maintenance and repair of existing roofs, construction of new
polyester reinforced built-up roof, cap-sheeting over existing
roof and waterproofing of concrete walls, floors, bridges or any
other surface requiring waterproofing or protection with an
elastic, flexible coating.
Outstanding Features :
-
Durable
-
High Elastic
-
Excellent movement capability
-
Single cold applied single component
-
Unique property
of adapting over contours, forming a waterproofing and
impervious blanket

Coverage :
BITUMAC PU 606,
when applied at the recommended thickness of 50-60 wet mils or
1.2mm-1.5mm(1.6”) will cover 0.6- 0.7 m² per kg. Coverage will
vary with surface condition.
Repairs :
If punctured,
BITUMAC PU 606 can be repaired with
another application of the same product. Clean the area with Xylol
immediately prior to recoating.
Limitations :
Not designed for
use as a finished traffic surface. Do not apply over any type
lightweight concrete without prior written approval. Metal decking
must be vented with 6.4mm (1/4”) holes on 100mm (4”) centers. Use
only in well-ventilated area.
On applications
over vented metal decking, or where moisture may be trapped
beneath the membrane, or where the membrane will be exposed to
constant water immersion.

Application Data Or
Application Stament :
-
Concrete surfaces
shall have a light steel-trowel finish which is dry and free of
dust , oil and other contaminants.
-
All exposed metal
surfaces shall be made clean of paint, oils, rust and other
contaminants. Wipe clean with cleaner and prime with Primer 66,
prior to preparatory coating with
BITUMAC PU 606.
-
Wherever a
vertical penetration exists (parapet wall, column, stack, etc) a
25mm (1”) cant strip shall be built of BITUMAC PU 606.
A flashing shall be provided with not less than 1.2mm-1.5mm
(50-60wet mils) of BITUMAC PU 606 to the
desired flashing height.
-
Cracks-All
shrinkage, cold pour joints and non-moving structural crack under
1.6mm (1/16”) shall be pretreated with not less than a
1.2mm-1.5mm(50-60wet mil) coating of BITUMAC PU 606
extending 75mm (3”) either side of crack.
Note :
All preparatory work must be cured 12 hours minimum prior to
installation of the full membrane. Preparatory work shall be
cleaned with Xylol prior to full membrane installation.
BITUMAC PU 606
can accommodate movement from 0 to 1.6mm (1/16”) when fully cured
at 1.5mm thickness.
BITUMAC PU 606
can withstand a simulated 100 foot head of water while bridging a
1.6mm (1/16”) crack when fully cured at 1.2mm-1.5mm thickness.
To
reduce blisters caused by air entrapment on rough concrete or
moisture vapor emission from concrete, use BITUMAC PU 606
(thinned 5% with Xylol or Toluol) as a primer or incorporate a
polyester spun scrim sheet between two (2) application of liquid
applied membrane.
PVC plumbing shall be primed with Primer 66 and shall receive a
preparatory coating of
BITUMAC PU 606.
Drains :
An all-level rain
shall be installed wherever identified on the plans in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instruction. Following good drainage
procedures, the structural slab should be sloped a minimum of 10mm
per meter.
Application :
BITUMAC PU 606
shall be applied, by trowel or squeegee, directly to the surface
to achieve a thickness not less than 1.2mm-1.5mm (50-60 wet mil).
If a water test is
to be run, membrane should cure a minimum of 36 hours.
Flood Test: Prior
to placement of protection board, flood with a minimum 25mm (1”)
of water for 48 hours. Drains shall be plugged and barriers placed
to contain the water.
Safe Handling
Precautions :
-
Fire :
Non-flammable
when wet
-
Skin :
Wear gloves.
Avoid repeated or prolonged skin contact. Remove with water when
wet, or with a hand cleaner when dry.
-
Eyes :
Wear goggles. If
eyes become contaminated, irrigate them with copious amounts of
water and seek medical assistance immediately
